The role we want you to play 

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our expanding IT & development team.

We are working on projects that use cutting-edge technology, as a company, we are very focused on delivering market changing online services. You will be one of the experts contributing to those goals with your professional knowledge, expertise and work ethic.

You will report to the lead Solutions Architect and will be working in a fast paced organization using Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver excellent solutions.

Some of your responsibilities will be:

  • Work closely with the Development team to bring new software releases to production more effectively
  • Develop, deploy and manage a highly-scalable and high-availability platforms in AWS, implement monitoring to maintain service performance.
  • Automate everything from deployment to monitoring and management to incident response
  • Take ownership of configuration management tools
  • Collaborate with developers to bring new features and services into production
  • Assist identifying and mitigating security threats on the platform
  • Develop and improve operational practices and procedures
  • Work with Solutions Architect to help produce high-level design documentation where required

What you’ll bring to the role (skills, experience and personal qualities)

  • Infrastructure as code, CloudFormation/terraform
  • Containers: Strong docker knowledge
  • Kubernetes: experience or willingness to learn.
  • Monitoring systems & tools
  • Continuous integration tools – eg Jenkins
  • Configuration management tools - Chef / Puppet and experience config managing multiple environments.
  • Strong Linux knowledge: Ubuntu / Debian.
  • Web technologies: eg. Apache / Ngnix
  • Lateral thinking, reverse engineering, good at problem solving 
  • Experience securing servers covering file integrity / intrusion detection / application firewalls / auditing
  • Experience with issue tracking - JIRA
  • Version control systems - Git / GitHUB
  • Obsession for good documentation: using wiki to log changes, write procedures and instructions 
  • Strong knowledge of at least one of Python, PHP or shell scripting
  • Self-motivated with strong team spirit
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as ability to work within a team;
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to communicate well to both technical and non-technical staff

Desirable skills

  • AWS Certification to Associate level
  • Agile / Scrum Development
  • Caching Technologies
  • Elastic Search and ELK
  • Experience supporting Development teams using JSONs, REST API’s Microservices and PHP
  • MySQL knowledge skills as well as NoSQL solutions
  • Experience with Security Audits - Penetration tests
