DC Courts

"Open To All, Trusted By  All, Justice For All"

The D.C. Courts serve as the judicial branch of the District of Columbia government. As an independent agency, they receive direct appropriation from Congress and are not under the authority of the D.C. Mayor or the D.C. Council.

The D.C. Courts are comprised of the Court of Appeals, the highest court of the District; the Superior Court, a trial court with general jurisdiction over virtually all local legal matters; and the Court System, which provides administrative support functions for both Courts.
